There is new a resource called 'Outpost Alert', which lists:
- Alliance Ranking by number of outposts controlled
- All built outposts
- How many of each type have been built so far
Updated once a week, you can also get emails when new ones are spotted.
If there is sufficient interest, a combined ranking of Outposts/Sovereignty/Members Count will be posted up and maintained weekly.

They aren't confused, it's deliberate. Regardless of who built it, it's useful (IMO) to know who holds it.

The maps from Ombey are an excellent online resource for the Community. You're not the first person to mention this to me, and Ombey has not contacted me regarding the issue.
The Eve Strategic Maps are entire original, in concept, method of production, style, layout and data source. The only resemblence between the two maps is that they are, well, both maps.
The original series of Black & White Maps that evolved and developed into Eve Maps were created over 1 year before Ombey's character even started playing Eve.

The original B&W Maps were pre-smuggler gates, limited to selected regions and considered 'Valuable Intelligence', so only released to the Corp at the time.
I pulled all the old B&W files when Eve Strategic Maps became a serious endeavour, however there are undoubtedly a number of players with the B&W still on their Hard-drive. |

There is now a filter to include/exclude conquerable stations on rankings.
Added a count of total outposts per region. The most heavily developed by region is Feythabolis.
300+ players have subscribed to Outpost Alert and/or info on The Eve Strategic Map book now, and the outpost alert service will go live Monday.
The first email alert was delayed due to finishing coding on an unsubscribe feature. (IMO, It is only right to send emails, when there is an automated method to unsubscribe - in some countries it's even a legal requirement ).

Thanks for the feedback. The Eve Strategic Map Book will be released as wirebound, for exactly the reason you mention.
On the stickers, this is a good idea. Part of the motivation behind Outpost Alert! was to identify at what rate new outposts were being built, and determine if stickers would be needed. The second reason is to work out the ratio of sticker types for the different outpost services!

There is only an RL email address subscription option.
Email addresses are never given to 3rd parties, only used by eve-maps.com. There is an change subscription/unsubscribe option on the site, and a link in the emails.

The target date for release is before FanFest (ie. 9th November 06).
The pricing can't be released yet, as additional features have been added and are pending the final print quotation (eg. special custom stickers for marking new player built outposts built and some (currently sekrit) additional stuff).
Very, very soon(tm) all will be announced on the web site, and newsletter subscribers will receive an email with full details!

Is it the ore (mercoxite, bistot, arkanor, crokite) that is most important, or just the presence of Zydrine, Megacyte and Morphite?

Thanks for the source. I have a second one, so I can cross-check the two.
The graphical part is the trick - I'm just about at the limit of options to display additional data, while enabling the reader to identify points of interest in 'one-glance'. That said, the majority of regions with those ores are relatively bare of stations, so may work.
No promises, as it's pretty close to print deadline, but I'll certainly see what I can do. It's only 5.1k systems to update hehe

The outpost in PNQY-Y you might as well just put neutral for the next week or 2 while ASCN/Celest play station ping pong with Xelas.
I'll have the option to have it 'contested' in the future.
At the moment, the database only supports information at a static sample points in time (targetted typically just before the weekend hits for alliance weekend ops), rather than provide a 'current territorial' information.
A work-around will be adding the 'report an outpost conquered' option, which I will be able to code after Fanfest - busy days, nights and mornings until then

Yes, the book includes Map pages for the new Kali regions, as well as the jumps, and the Kali map pages also include systems from neighbouring regions where it's <4 jumps to the nearest station (or outpost in the case of Vale of the Silent).

Yes this is true about BoB ownership (follow my sig to the leaderboard).
The weekly reports show who currently owns it, so "Contested" isn't actually a status. Ownership is 9/10s of the law after all
I'll try get the history + enable a 'I 0wnd it today' option onto the site before end of the month. (also been asked for RSS and XML feeds, so quite a lot to fit into the 2 weeks!)

Well since you asked .. CCP haven't helped me at all (also not for the Maps)
Here's how I do it:
I look at the map, and visually count total stations in every region and match against recorded totals. Then I add new outposts into the database
I then search/show info on every corp that owns 1+ outpost, and check they still have the station listed in settled systems. If they no longer own it, I work out who currently owns it and add the history into the database
For any alliances that control a station, I then either find their logo, beg on the forums for one, or make a simple ticker icon
Then I export all the current subscriber email addresses (to ensure people who unsubscribe never get the email)
After all that is done;
The HTML Newsletter is automatically generated with machine-generated comments about what happened
I then edit the comments manually to give some experienced perspective
The text part of the mime email (for people without HTML email clients) is then automatically generated.
[*]I run a test mail send to my Gmail and POP3 accounts, make sure it all looks good, checking for text style etc
Then the personalised emails are sent using mass-emailing software, which takes about 20 minutes to send them all out
Total Time: 2hrs
I need to setup some forms so people can report changes themselves and I then just verify. This probably won't save any time for ensuring accuracy, but would get the conquering/build dates to the nearest day rather than week.
I'm sure some Eve-Junkies would like to know daily :)

Outpost Alert now shows System Sovereignty in rankings for all alliances with at least one system.
See the detail for any alliance by clicking the alliance logo or ticker from any screen (including newsletters).

Short version: It's fixed.
Long Version: It comes down to a problem with the EvE Client that displays old show-info data. It has happened before, but usually fixes itself in a few days. Usually I go visit the system if it persists. Generally if I can guess the new owner corp, I can grab the data from Settled systems.
However, a week is a bit extreme and travelling early sunday morning it out of the question. So, I just dumped my cache folder and seems to have solved the problem :)
Stats should show correctly.

Yes, this is as good place to mention it. TCF taking the SOHO station was definately hostile. TCF confirmed now the Ka-Tet deal was friendly. Thanks for the correction.

Hmmm .. I can add another column. All the icons have a roll-over that shows the alliance and corporation name.

Really looking forward to the book but I've got to admit I would prefer it with a white background so I can annotate it with a dry-wipe marker / highlighter.
Manina, I would entirely agree with you, however I tested the paper coating and it's possible to draw on it with pretty much anything (incl. silver/white) if CCP go with my recommendation :)

Fixed the display of alliance logos in the IGB. All alliance now show their logo with a roll-over for the full name and corporation holding the outpost.

- Total Sovereign systems last 90 days (it's falling)
- Total Pilots in an alliance, split by alliances with and without any sovereignty. (Grew by 10k pilots in 2 months).

Adm, thanks for flagging this. The Nr of weeks held refers to the combination of Alliance and Corp. CoRM has been in RMF alliance since January. The data I have at the moment only extends back to 14th July 2007.

At the moment, the rankings are alliance-centric, hence it's shown this way. On the other hand, the fact that outposts held by two different corps in the same alliance is a bug that needs fixing.

It's fixed now.
It was a bug that got the graph 'stuck' on member count at 28th April when graphing the remaining member data. It could only effect alliance that still have members, and 5 alliances were effected, all fixed.

Solved. The markers are at every 10 days, and much clearer to see the 30/60/90 day markers.

Ingame map only shows 2xConstellation Sov for Goons. Who's right?
Edit: Yeah, yeah, I know, COAD and all that, but I'm on topic and the topic is not exactly COAD specific... :P
This is an error in the ranking total calculation for constellation sovereignty on teh site. The goons are currently assaulting the RISE constellation with sovereignty and it incorrectly shows them having an additional constellation.
I'm just about finished re-coding the site for performance improvement, which includes a fix for this sovereignty issue. Clicking on goon-swarm to drill down into the data will show that it's only 1 system = Assault on Constellation.

Sorry I didn't get your evemail sooner, otherwise I would have added it immediately! It's there now.
In general, it's a manual (read time-consuming) task to check if any new outposts built, so I only do it once a week. All outposts built in the last 7 days have been updated :)

AFAIK the CCP API only covers Sovereignty and Alliance information, the version 2.0 to provide outpost ownership information isn't released yet (pls let me know if it is!)
I do use the existing API information to tell me 'where to look', which is quite efficient.
Once the API 2.0 is up and running, the whole update will be automated, until then I do the manual check as close to down-time as work permits.

I've got access again now, so will work on it over the next few days.
The ISP cleverly reset everyone's FTP and email passwords for security. The only way to recover your FTP password is via your registered email address. Guess where my registered email address was hosted. Anyway I'll get it up this weekend, and then switch to the API, and for a reward for everyone's patience, add 90 graph of corporation count in the alliances :)

The information I have right now is that it's mean to be available in the EvE-Store today or Monday. CCP have to apparently update the code for postage rates.
As soon as I have a confirmation, it will be absolutely clear on the site, news, splash screen, email lists, my signature, new forum posts :)

I found the bug; Ka-Tet alliance folded according the the .XML information from EvE, leaving a bunch of outposts with null-values for alliances IDs. My code really didn't like that.
I will fix it tonight/this weekend.

I checked the underlying data in the tables, and it's ok. The problem is with the display queries. Most of them are due to table joins etc. and the Null values with fall of Ka-Tet.
Orbit info isn't in the API - so will have to add that to my regular to-do list :)

One complaint about the EVE Strategic Maps: The last page is just a E-ON ad. I would have appreciated an index of all of the systems and/or constellations (showing page name and grid location) greatly. Otherwise, they look great.
I mean, no map is complete without an index >.>. I might put one together myself.

QCWA-Z in Branch is shown twice on its region page and in the list of all outposts, once for Stella Polar and once for Stella Polaris. (Unlike the glitch with Z-N, this isn't affecting any overall totals. If the two alliances have the same ticker, then that's probably the reason for the glitch, since one of them is supposed to have disbanded some time ago.)

Yes, it's possible and a good idea, however a little difficult without me changing the database due to performance issues (I hadn't anticipated 600+ active alliances when I first wrote the site and didn't do much query optimisation). I keep the data in a second db at the moment as an archive.
I've started migrating to a new DB on my beta test site, but it's not complete yet. I'll make an announcement when it's ready in Outpost Alert!.

System security is displayed in the game as rounded to 1 decimal place, Starting at +1.0 is clipped at 0.0 , so anything lower just shows as 0.0. However the security statuses actually have >5 decimal places and go all the way down to -1.0,
This range +1.0 to -1.0 and multiple decimal places is referred to as "Truesec" ie. The True security status.
For the purposes of Strategic planning, 1 decimal place is sufficient if you show the entire range +1.0 to -1.0, hence why this was chosen for the maps.

Yes, they're coming back! The last one that went out was jammed by my ISP I think (still trying to sort that).
From what I can see the new outposts are showing up on the rankings fine (Eg. BOB went from 28 to 30 outposts in the last few weeks).

The site has had some troubles over the last 2 days, due to the hosting provider reducing the time to run scripts on the server. I've compensated by further optimizing the code and database and the rankings are all up and running again.

Yes, it's been picked up on before - I missed programming a query to check colour against security status. The good news is that security statuses are directly from the DB (not entered by hand).

Is no longer accurate. The Alliance had to be reformed as there is a bug that seems to cause an alliance to up and be disbanded. We reformed the alliance since our petition does not seem to be getting any answers from CCP. It may take some deleting of the old instance of Agony Empire (the one with the logo and changing it for the one with out the logo...) Also our logo stayed the same. If you would like to transfer that over to. Who knows maybe well have SOV 3 before CCP gets to our petition. LOL.

The poster that comes with the book is folded. The folds are pretty soft (at least in the one I received).
CCP have promised to make it possible to order just the poster in rolled form separately. Rolled posters are printed on heavier paper, and are couriered in a tube and a fixed price including postage and packaging. So it's just waiting for CCP to add it to the store.
